Automotive technology company, Doftek, has further strengthened its Advisory Board with the appointment of respected industry executive Gavin Smith.
Smith’s appointment follows Doftek’s earlier addition of former Mercedes-AMG Chief Technology Officer, Jochen Hermann, and comes shortly after the company announced it will establish its European base at the MIRA Technology Park in the United Kingdom.
Geoff Rogers, Co-Founder of Doftek said,“Gavin brings exactly the leadership and industry insight Doftek needs as we prepare for series production. His appointment, supported by the earlier addition of Jochen Hermann, gives us the strategic depth required to accelerate commercialisation and meet growing global demand.”
Gavin Smith worked for Bosch for 35 years, most recently serving as President of Bosch Oceania. During his Bosch career, he worked in Bosch’s Automotive Original Equipment businesses in Germany and Australia, holding a number of senior leadership roles with responsibility for Original Equipment Sales, Engineering, and Manufacturing.
His extensive leadership experience, particularly in the design, development, sourcing, production, and sales of Automotive Components to Global OEM’s, will be invaluable to Doftek as it advances toward series production of its active wheel alignment (AWATM) technology.
Gavin Smith said he has long recognised the potential for Active Wheel Alignment technology, “From my earliest interactions with Doftek, it was clear they had a novel approach to active wheel alignment that addressed the most challenging issues. I’m pleased to support the company as it responds to growing global interest.”
The appointment strengthens Doftek’s technical and commercial capability during a period of rapid growth, marked by the deployment of multiple AWATM prototype systems with global vehicle manufacturers. Together with the earlier appointment of Jochen Hermann, Smith’s knowledge and international experience will help guide Doftek as it prepares to scale and expand into new markets.
Doftek’s AWATM systems provide real-time control of camber, castor and toe across all four wheels, delivering substantial improvements in performance, safety and efficiency. The company continues to advance late-stage prototypes currently undergoing testing with several global automotive brands.
Doftek was founded in Melbourne, Australia and recently announced its move to the MIRA Technology Park in the United Kingdom (UK) to be closer to global customers as it brings its active wheel alignment technology to market. The company’s mission is to introduce new degrees of freedom to future vehicles, improving driving dynamics, safety and sustainability for customers worldwide.
